A final temporary extension of immigration and international protection permissions has been granted to 15th January 2022.
This final extension applies to permissions due to expire between 21st September 2021 and 15th January 2022. The extension includes those permissions already extended since March 2020. Accordingly, those who held valid permission to be in the State in March 2020 are legally permitted to remain until 15th January 2022. This permission applies even if their Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card has expired and they are awaiting a new one.
Those covered by this final temporary extension should either register or renew their permission by 15th January 2022 to ensure that they have qualifying permission to remain in the State after that date if that is their intention. Renewal is on the same basis as the existing permission and the same conditions continue to apply.
